Remember the 1995 teen classic Clueless featuring Alicia Silverstone as Cher Horowitz? Although it been almost 19 years since Cher entered our lives, still there are some solid fashion and style lessons we can learn from her.

So I did some research by watching the movie again and relived those nostalgic moments while mouthing the dialogues along with Alicia Silverstone. You know Cher Horowitz was a style goddess who may have been naive regarding love, friendship and life; but was utterly confident, materialistic and devious when it came to style. Let’s face it, Clueless made us girls aware about fashion names like Azzedine Alaia and Calvin Klein. We learned about trends like schoolgirl skirts, crop tops, knee socks, berets, mini-backpacks, headbands...I can just keep going on, but you got the point.
Honestly we can still learn a lot from her about fashion and here a few style lessons that I follow from the film-
Wear Anything From a Popular Designer

Did you ever want to wear a dress that seemed awesome and outrageous at the same time? Well you can wear anything you like without being worried about getting judged, as long as it is designed by a popular fashion name. We all know a big designer name adds credibility to a dress and once you say “it’s a Balenciaga dress,” it completely changes the game for you. So in Clueless, when Cher wears a tiny white slip and her fashion challenged father stops her to ask who says it’s a dress, Cher fires back ‘'Calvin Klein.’ So kids what did you learn from this? It’s not a ‘What’ that matters, it’s a ‘Who’ which is more important. You dig?
Azzedine Alaia- The Great Designer

Prada, Dior, Gucci, Ralph Lauren, Yves Saint Laurent might all be big names in fashion, but if it hadn’t been for Clueless, most of us girls would have missed out on the great couturier Azzedine Alaia. Cher introduced Alaia to a whole new generation of ‘wannabe’ fashionistas.
Pick the Dude With Classic Wardrobe

In the movie Clueless, we see Cher crazy about Christian, a fashion forward guy with patterned jackets, tight tees and dashing hats. But after having an epiphany, Cher realises Josh is the guy she loves, even though he wears jeans and plaid shirts. Of course we all know Josh was the right choice who looks sharp and classy in a tuxedo during the climax.
Retail Therapy Is The Best
When Cher became upset after a row with Tai, played by the late great Brittany Murphy, and was sort of baffled about her love life, she chose to go on a walk to get some fresh air and refresh her mind. Although nothing seems to help her much initially, but when spots a neat little dress in a shop window things turn instantly. It is only after she makes her new purchase (yes, she bought the dress right then), Cher realises what she needed to do. In short, retail therapy is the best cure. Period.

Well there are many other fashion tips in the movie apart from just the ones I mentioned above. The movie is like a fashion tutorial for teenage girls which still holds true.
